blog what?

I can't believe I haven't written in over a week... I can practically hear this echoing around my empty internet room as I type.

First and most important, I missed sending out a very important shoutout...

Happy Birthday Travis!!!

My wonderful hubby turned 27 a week ago. I got him golf clubs which he'd been wanting. His parent's are both golfers and we have some friends that are as well... so he'd been interested in taking it up as a possible fun weekend activity.

This past weekend was really really lazy. Got out early on Friday, which is always nice. Saturday I was up and about early, heading up to get my hair done and visit with my parents. But other then that, we were home all weekend watching movies/tv and playing video games. It was really hot, too hot for me already with some days hitting the 90s... so inside was better. I did enjoy watching two huge thunderstorms from our porch this weekend. Tons of thunder and lightning, and the one on Sunday involved a torrential downpour! The wind was whipping it in every direction and it was hard to even see the neighbors across the street. Fun stuff!

I do have some exciting things to report though:
Hotel & flights have been booked for my mom and I to fly out to my uncle's wedding in California this September! I'm very excited. My mom & I haven't ever flown anywhere together, we are going to have a great time.
Also, Trav and I got the invitation to our friend's wedding in July. Another thing I'm looking forward to.
Tomorrow I'm hitting up Tirananog again with Apoc for lunch. And you have to love that it is a four day week.

I also got a new dress for some of these summer weddings (didn't want to wear the same one to all of them!).
What do you think? I think it looks better in person... it's very light, flowy and gauzy. I love it!

Otherwise my not writing is mostly due to the fact that I've been boring lately. No surprise there, right? Work, then home for a quiet evening... last weekend was actually the most we've done in a two day span in a long time! Ro & Pat were over on Friday night... we ate and drank some, and went putt-putting. Lol, dorky but very fun (we've gone a few times, we always have a great time). Saturday night we hung out with Ed and Slink at their place... played some beirut, some video games, and hit up the bar. It was a long long night (I got in bed at 5am, the second to succumb) and we spent most of the day on Sunday recovering... definitely not in college anymore.

This weekend should be relaxing as well, though we definitely have things to accomplish... and the one after that we will be in New Hampshire! Then the summer events really start.

Well, that's really all I have.... though there are two great songs I want to share with you. The first is from an artist that my dad introduced me to this weekend, Antje Duvekot. She has a very fun, cute voice, and this song is one of my favorites (that I've heard so far). The second is Iron and Wine, a song which I believe is from the Garden State soundtrack... and it is just beautiful, very sweet. Enjoy.

Antje Duvekot - Dandelion

Iron and Wine - Such Great Heights

Ciao!! Promise I'll be back sooner this time.

opps... sorry!

I've been so bad about posting lately... I have no energy for it and nothing new to report. I haven't been taking pictures and I haven't seen anyone new. We've been playing some tennis and that has been a lot of fun... in fact I've been having a lot of fun lately, but not anything exciting to read about (tennis, drinks with a friend, normal us stuff, greatly enjoyed the thunderstorm yesterday, etc etc). I did buy Travis' birthday present, but am obviously not going to write about that here as there is always the chance he will read about it. We do have some fun plans for the weekend, but I'll tell you about them after the fact. The one thing I do have to say is:

Happy Birthday Megan!

Hopefully it's a good one.

Ciao!

on and on and on

Heard on train, heading home on friday:

Teen Girl #1: And like, this job is so totally perfect for me... I get to take lunch like whenever I want.
Teen Girl #2: That's awesome.
Teen Girl #1: And like, I'm so totally perfect for this job because I'm like really good with people.
Teen Girl #2: Uh yeah... wait, you are?

----------------------

I'm feeling a little off today... just so slightly nauseous, a bit shaky, just off. I keep doing deep breathing to deal with the blerghiness and not groan outloud at work. I don't know if it's the weird sleep thing my bodies been doing lately (fall asleep fine, but then wake up multiple times during the night/early morning), or just that my body has to get used to itself and not being a vessel for artificial hormones, but either way it's annoying and I want to feel better.

This weekend was nice... relaxing, fun. Friday I hung out with Nick and watched tons of Family Guy while Trav enjoyed his annual department trip to the Phillies game. We both (all) had a good time. We putt-putted on Saturday, got me some black shoes I can wear to weddings, got/watched Rosemary's Baby (neither of us had seen it before, we enjoyed it). Sunday we were lazier, but did play some tennis and Travis was handy (made a quick fix for the hole in our upstairs closet and put new tiles into our kitchen ceiling).

The think we didn't do was travel up to my parents' place, but we had a good reason as they were out of town visiting my grandparents. They did love their presents though (gift cards to Cingular so they can get the new phones they've been wanting). So a huge Happy Birthday to my Dad, and a big Happy Mother's Day to my mom. Also, not so impressive, but I love to mention it... 7 months for Trav and I.

Right now I'm trying to plan out the trip to my uncle's wedding in CA... I want to get the tickets/reservations early so that it isn't too expensive... but I really hate planning this stuff. I always feel like I'm going to forget something. I would be so much happier to have someone else do the planning. I can't really complain though, I'm definitely looking forward to the trip (with my mom) and Christina (the bride) has given us all the info we need for hotels in the area, et al. She's great.

Anyway, that's all for the moment. Time for me to get some chow.

bits and pieces

Randomly this weekend...

Me: Hey, what event is happening here tonight?
Young guy setting up tables (aka. YGSUT): Oh, it's a gay/lesbian event.
Me: Oh, that should be interesting.
YGSUT: Yeah. What are you guys here for?
Me: Oh, I'm here from [my company], doing a conference.
YGSUT: Oh crazy. Are you from around here?
Me: Oh yea, were down at [street name] and [street name].
YGSUT: No, I meant you...
Me: Oh... yea, I'm from the suburbs.
YGSUT: What's your name?
Me: I'm Meg.
YGSUT: Hi Meg, I'm Greg.
Me: Hi.
YGSUT: Do you have a number Meg?
Me: No, but I have a husband, Greg.
YGSUT: Oh... then I guess we can't go get some drinks?
Me: Uh, no...

The weekend was good. It went fast, it went well, and best of all I got to have off on Monday. :-) I liked having the event in Philly... it was nice to not have to travel so far, and of course, to have Travis come into the city with me on Friday night. We ate at this great restaurant called Haru... right in old city just down from the hotel. The food was fabulous... fresh, tasty, and amazingly inexpensive! I had some of my favorite plum wine too... which was great. I would definitely go there again. After dinner, we took a walk another block or so down the street and hit up this really cute coffee shop where we got a coffee, a hot chocolate, a water, and a juice for $8!! I'm so used to wayyyy overpriced Starbucks... I couldn't believe that he rung it up correctly! They had couches to sit on, and board games you could play, so Trav and I played a game of checkers (ended in a draw) before heading back to the hotel. We stayed up too late watching a movie on TV (Dragon: the Bruce Lee story... love that movie)... probably mostly because we had just drank the coffee! Oh well.

Saturday morning Travis left the same time as me to head home. The day went pretty fast for me and there were no real issues, except that the room was very small and cramped, and therefore kept getting a bit hot and stiffling. Oh well, everyone dealt with it. I completely forgot that Saturday was cinco de mayo... and I did go out for a little bit, but really just walked around to get some fresh air. Then I hit up the hotel bar for one drink (a freakin $13 martini), talked to my brother on the phone for over an hour, then headed to bed.

Sunday morning also went quickly... then after a leisurely lunch we were able to take off. On my way to the trainstation, I walked around Chinatown for a bit, and bought some yummy treats. Then it was back home, and from then until last night I pretty much relaxed and was lazy! Now it's back to the grind, although I think work should be pretty relaxing this week... with no major events on the horizon.

Now, a meme... stolen from Mainline Mom.

Explain what ended your last relationship? You mean my last boyfriend? Hmm... well my last boyfriend before Travis was my senior year of high school. He broke up with me, and I'm pretty sure it was the fact that I wouldn't have sex with him. At the time I was heartbroken, but now I look back and say Thank G*d!!

When was the last time you shaved? My legs? Hmm... thursday or friday? My pits? This morning. :-)

What were you doing this morning at 8 a.m.? Tearing through my closet to find something to wear, running late!

What were you doing 15 minutes ago? Checking my work email and reading some blogs.

Are you any good at math? I'm not extraordinary at it, but I'm pretty good.

Your prom night? Actually a lot of fun... said ex-bf was all about dancing with me, showing that now that he didn't have me, he wanted me... lol. Plus my friends and I camped in one friend's big back yard that night and stayed up most of the night talking. It was a lot of fun.

Do you have any famous ancestors? Mary Queen of Scots... she was beheaded.

Have you had to take a loan out for school? Ugh, yes... a bunch.

Last thing received in the mail? A magazine.

How many different beverages have you had today? So far, just milk.

Do you ever leave messages on people’s answering machine? Of course... why wouldn't you?

Who did you lose your CONCERT virginity to? Hmm... I think it was the Gin Blossoms and Goo Goo Dolls.

Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach? Sometimes, but I more enjoy just laying in it.

What’s the most painful dental procedure you’ve had? Probably having my wisdom teeth removed.

What is out your back door? Hmm, well our back door is actually on the side of the house... so the side of our house and our neighbors house, and the gate to our back yard.

Any plans for Friday night? Not right now... but I'm trying to decide if I actually want to make some since Travis will be at the baseball game with work until late.

Do you like what the ocean does to your hair? Sometimes at the moment it gives cute trossled hair... but after about five minutes of that no, you feel like you have straw on your head!

Have you ever been to a planetarium? Yes! But not for a long time... I would LOVE to go back to one... I love the star shows.

Do you re-use towels after you shower? Yes.

Some things you are excited about? In order from soonest on: my cousin's wedding in NH (June), friend's wedding in the Poconos (July), Cape Cod (July), Uncle's wedding in DC or Lehigh Valley (August?), other Uncle's wedding in CA (September), Ireland (Sept/Oct) and our first anniversary (October).

What is your favorite flavor of Jell-O? Black cherry/ Rasberry.

Describe your keychain(s)? I have wayyyy too much stuff on my keychain... I have I have keys to my house, plus the houses of four other people, a work key and a car key, plus Travis' car key and a key to my old dresser... also a dice keychain from Vegas, a jump drive, a bunch of those annoying but helpful bonus cards from grocery stores, an orange pig (i don't know), a little light thing from work, and holding it all together a Lehigh University carabiner. Yipes.

Where do you keep your change? Bottom of my purse, a piggy bank (real one, shaped like a pig), or in a giant empty water container which we are working on filling up.

When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people? Hmm, probably when making an announcement at one of our conferences... something more substancial then that, probably not since college.

What kind of winter coat do you own? A brown cordaroy one with a wooly collar... a brown wool calf length one with a fuzzy collar... and a dark brown suade one with a very fuzzy collar and cuff (which is super warm and I look great in!). I'm noticing an unintentional color trend here.

What was the weather like on your graduation day? Very sunny and hot... I got heat exhaustion/sun poisoning and barfed.

Do you sleep with the door to your room open or closed? Well, if we had a door to our bedroom...

fridays are good

Fridays are good even when you have to work the whole weekend. The weather is gorgeous, and I'm looking forward to staying in the city... especially since Trav decided to come in with me tonight, and we are going out to dinner. Don't know where exactly, but figuring that out will give us a chance to explore Old City some... a part of Philly I haven't spent that much time in. I'm definitely looking forward.

Today has been pretty lazy... a few last minute things to fix for the weekend, but mostly just handling them as they pop up... so it hasn't been taxing. The worst part (which wasn't bad at all) was having Jan in Florida at the moment... so having to email or call instead of just walk down the hall with a question/concern. Yet it all got done and we are ready to roll.

And with that, I'm going to finish up my work day so the fun part of Friday can start.

that's me

PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips
The stride of my steps
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
And to a man
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees
Then they swarm around me
A hive of honey bees.
I say
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back
The sun of my smile
The ride of my breasts
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say
It's in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

ramble on rose

Had a dream last night involving people that I only "know" through their blogs (and including one I have only heard about through someone elses blog) and a sporting event of some sort. Odd to say the least.

It turns out I did get to come in late today, which was fabulous... I slept until 8:30 which was also great. And I'm in a fun, happy mood. Partly due to nice weather (sunny, light breeze, high of 74*), partly due to a nice convo with my mama this morning, partly because of this line from an email from Trav, "Glad you found that guy and ran something by him, but I might have to talk to him later." Doesn't strike your fancy... well that is because it is an inside joke and it makes me giggle because its funny and because no one else gets it. That's half the fun.

I was also looking through some old photos of Babs and I and found some goodies... they really make me smile.

My best girl is just so cute.

Anyway, all is well and good here. I got home around 9:20 last night, but the day went faster then I thought it would in the end... and the night was very nice. So I can't complain too much. Tonight I am looking forward to much laziness at home... I don't want to do jack! Lol.

In other big news... today is the 26th birthday of my girl, Rochelle!! Happy Birthday Ro!!!!!!

(This is us in the airport before flying out to Vegas for my bachelorette party...) Everyone click on over to Ro's blog and leave her some birthday love.

And so I don't forget a big congrates to my parents who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary tomorrow! Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!! Nowadays it seems 25 years is something even bigger then it used to be... it seems much more rare... so congrates again to my mama and papita.

Oh that note, I'm going to go eat a banana and get back to work. Ciao!!

lazy picture post

Way too lazy to write a real post even though I'm actually very bored at work right now.

First, from many weekends ago and my trip to see the quads et al... Sam!

Next, from Friday and our trip to Citizens Bank Park:

We had AMAZING seats... 11th row, directly behind home plate. It was a lot of fun, as was the rest of the night chilling back at Slink & Ed's.

Then Sunday, we headed to Brian & Stacey's to meet baby Kieran.

He is absolutely the sweetest thing and I spent the longest time just holding him while he slept and rocking him. He looks just like his dad and has the cutest red hair. We had a really nice time with them and I'm glad I got to see the little man. They grow up so fast.

Yesterday was easy, but slow... and the evening was nice. We went out shopping for a friend's birthday present. Tonight is going to be long though... I have to stay at work until late (like 8 something) for a meeting. No fun. Especially no fun is that I don't think I can come in late tomorrow... we have plenty to do to get ready for this weekend, and tomorrow we are packing up and sending off the boxes of supplies. Oh well, it's just one day... and hopefully I'll have monday off.

Okay, back to the grind for me.
