Happy Halloween...

*gigglesnort*

i am megan's complete lack of patience

The weekend was good. Got home real late on friday because I decided to stay a half hour late at work... then the 5:50 train didn't come until 6:30. Ugh. Ate a quicky meal, then headed to the grocery store. Saturday I headed up to my parent's, then to Laura's, then back towards my parent's so my mom and I could meet and she could give me Henry, whom I had forgotten. Finally it was back home.

While I was gone, Travis was totally productive. He gutted our pumpkin, roasted the seeds, baked a cake, washed the tub, hit up the grocery store, made pepperoni dip, and started a nice dinner. That night we headed to Willy's for his Halloween party. It was a blast. Slink and Lindsey, who just moved about 3 blocks away from Willy, were there too. We had a great time, and everyone left stuffed and drunk (well, except for the DD... one guess who that was).

Saturday to Sunday we got so much sleep! I don't know if it was the time change, or if our bodies were just completely exhausted, but we didn't get up until around 11... 10 hours of sleep!! It was great. We had a much lazier day on Sunday. I put up our new shower curtains (these with these), and we watched a lot of boob tube... mostly football, but I did see American Beauty. That evening we headed over to Ro & Pat's to relax and eat dinner. It was a nice night, and a nice day all together.

Yesterday was busy. Alan was out (is today too), but he left plenty to get done... and we (Miyano and I) had to do it before 3:15 when we had to leave to head to an event we were having that afternoon. So it was hectic. I stayed a bit late for the event, and took the 6:20 train home. A quick dinner, then some emailing, then thank yous. I'm almost done with our thank yous!! It's such a relief. Only a handfull more people to do... so I should be done by this weekend. If you didn't get a thank you by next week, yell at me so I can figure out why.

Now today... Halloween (Happy Halloween!!) and the last day of October. Can you believe it?! This whole month flew by! Only 3 weeks and 2 days until Thanksgiving, and 1 month, 3 weeks, 4 days until Christmas... and 61 days in this year (holy crap!)! These (H, T, & C) are my three favorite holidays. I'm already doing my shopping... I can't wait to give everyone their gifts!! Lol.

Right now I'm all about the waiting for some pro pictures that I can put up to show you. My photographer has to put them on a website for me, so that I can right click them. But as soon as I get them, I'll share.

Okay, back to work for me. Have a great Halloween and enjoy your trick-or-treaters.

"my cubicle... myyy cubicle"

Wow, getting back into the swing of things is a little hard! Since returning work has gone very fast everyday... but it's been so hard for me to concentrate. I'm getting things done, but soo much slower then before (well, so much slower then say a week before the wedding... because let's face it, those last few days were damn hard to get through). Right now I'm staring at a piles of thank you's I need to write, and a inbox full of letter's that need to go out, and email changes that need to be made. I've taken care of most of the email changes... but the rest... ugh.

And I'm really trying to be patient. With myself, with my heater (it's chilly in here!), and with my photographer (I want my pictures!!)... but it's not the easiest thing. I must have checked my email about 50x already today. I was going to upload a few non-pro pictures for you... but blogger is apparently not on my side today. Hopefully I won't have to be patient and rewrite this post!!

Hopefully in the next few days I can upload my honeymoon pictures and share some with you. Hell, hopefully in the next few days I can share some pro pictures with you!!

In the meantime, I am looking forward to getting home tonight and drinking a nice glass of port.

Another thing that makes me smile!

NJ ruled barring same sex marriages is discrimination:

HELD: Denying committed same-sex couples the financial and social benefits and privileges given to their married heterosexual counterparts bears no substantial relationship to a legitimate governmental purpose. The Court holds that under the equal protection guarantee of Article I, Paragraph 1 of the New Jersey Constitution, committed same-sex couples must be afforded on equal terms the same rights and benefits enjoyed by opposite-sex couples under the civil marriage statutes. The name to be given to the statutory scheme that provides full rights and benefits to samesex couples, whether marriage or some other term, is a matter left to the democratic process.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOO! Go New Jersey!!

This makes me Smile.

I love hugs. Especially when they are free.

Watch the whole thing (with volume on), it is worth it.

(((hugs))) to all of you.

Our wedding ceremony.

When Megan & Dad are at their spots, I will ask everyone to be seated. Uncle Wray will then come to the front for the reading. He should state title of the reading.

“Union”, by Robert Fulghum
You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment. At some point, you decided to marry. From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks – all those sentences that began with “When we’re married” and continued with “I will and you will and we will” – those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe” – and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart. All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “you know all those things we’ve promised and hoped and dreamed – well, I meant it all, every word.” Look at one another and remember this moment in time. Before this moment you have been many things to one another – acquaintance, friend, companion, and even teacher. Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, and things will never quite be the same between you. For after these vows, you shall say to the world, this is my husband, this is my wife.
Uncle Wray is seated.

Presentation of the Bride
Who presents this woman to be joined in holy matrimony to this man?
Her mother & I do.
Dad will kiss Megan on the cheek &/or hug her. Travis will step forward, shake Dad’s hand (&/or hug him!), then take Megan’s hand & take a small step towards the altar together. Megan continues to hold her flowers at this point.

Welcoming Statement
Family and friends, we have come together here in celebration of the joining together of Megan G*** and Travis H*****, on this their 6-year anniversary. There are many things to say about marriage, which is the most time-honored celebration of family. Much wisdom concerning the joining together of two souls has come our way through all paths of belief and from many cultures. With each union, more knowledge is gained and more wisdom gathered. Though we are unable to give all this knowledge to these two, who stand before us, we can hope to leave with them the knowledge of love and its strengths and the anticipation of the wisdom that comes with time.

In the midst of the selfishness, the competition, and the ambition of modern life, love intrudes its inexplicable and extraordinary softening influence. The marriage they are creating here has roots in the love, friendship, and guidance each of you has offered them. It should encourage all of us, because when a man and a woman find joy and happiness in giving and caring, in cooperating and compromising, it shows us that having the love of another is truly the greatest gift. And this gift has led them to each other and brought them to the place where they now stand.

Blessing of the Hands
Megan and Travis, please turn to face each other, hold the hands of your loved one palms up, so that both of you may see the gift that is before you.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

We ask God’s blessings on these two sets of hands. Give them the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment. Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their wondrous love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship founded in love and rich in caring. May Travis and Megan see their four hands as healer, protector, shelter and guide. May they always be held by one another.

Now, before I even met these two, I asked them to take time together to fill out a little questionnaire, to help me get to know them better. I asked them what they feel is the key to live a long and happy life together and it immediately became obvious to me how strongly influenced these two are by their parents’ relationships – Megan’s parents having been married for 24 years and Travis’s parents for 33 years. They already know the importance of always taking the time to listen to and support each other. And one thing they expressed that particularly touched me…making the effort to hold onto the things that are important to them. Megan and Travis, my advice to you at this early point in your marriage is to continue to look to your parents for their love, support, guidance, and INFINITE knowledge, and some day perhaps your own children will turn to you for the same inspiration.

UNITY CANDLE
In a symbolic gesture of the two lives and two families that are being united here today, I would like to ask the parents to come forward for the lighting of the Unity candle. [parents arrive]

Travis, the first candle represents you. We ask your parents to light your flame, as they provided you the spark of life years ago. [parents light candle]

Megan, the second candle represents you. We ask your parents to light your flame as they provided you the spark of life years ago. [parents light candle]

Travis and Megan, the single large unity candle represents your union from this day forward. If you are truly ready to merge your lives, we ask that you light the flame of the unity candle together. [light candle using personal candles. All 3 candles remain lit. Parents return to their seats.]

Exchanging of Vows
Megan and Travis, I remind you that marriage is a precious gift; a lifelong dedication to love…and a daily challenge to love one another more fully and more freely. Will you please turn to face each other, join hands, and look into the eyes of the person who will wake up next to for many days to come…

Travis, do you take Megan to be your wife, from this time onward, to join with you and to share all that is to come, to give and to receive, to speak and to listen, to inspire and to respond; a commitment made in love, kept in faith, and eternally made new?
I do.

Megan, do you take Travis to be your husband, from this time onward, to join with you and to share all that is to come, to give and to receive, to speak and to listen, to inspire and to respond;
a commitment made in love, kept in faith, and eternally made new?
I do.

Ladies and gentlemen, love is universal and it touches everyone, but for each person the experience is unique. Megan and Travis would like to share with all of you here a little of what it feels like to them to be in love. They’ve each taken the time to write a letter to each other, so that you can all hear what love is like for this special couple.

Travis…
"Always & forever is how we have summarized our love for each other over the years. Starting today I will stop summarizing and begin to show you the intricate details behind my feelings for you. I, Travis James H*****, take you, Megan Katie G***-H***** to be my friend, my lover, the mother of my children and my wife. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I pledge to be your faithful Husband, to speak and to listen, to inspire and to respond, and cherish you for all eternity."

Megan…
"Six years ago today we started a life together with no idea where it would lead us. Now as I stand before you, I know it has led me to a life of love, commitment, trust, and respect. Loving you is the only way that I know how to live. In your arms, I know safety and strength. With mine, I will always strive to give you comfort and hope. No matter how difficult the path may seem, I know our love will help us along the way.

I vow to love you the best way that I know how and to be faithful to you in all that life throws our way. I vow to listen to your words and trust in your judgment. I vow that for the rest of my days, all that I am and all that I will be is yours. "

Ring Exchange
As a symbol of your love and commitment to each other, you have chosen to exchange the rings that your friends now offer. Rings are received from MOH & BM
These rings are a seamless circle of joy, symbolizing the love that lives deep within your heart and soul, a sign of your willingness to share life's journey with each other; and of the seamless circle of joy that surrounds you both.

Travis, as you place the ring you have chosen for Megan onto her left hand, I ask you to repeat these words:
With this ring, I give you my heart.

Megan, as you place the ring you have chosen for Travis onto his left hand, I ask you to repeat these words:
With this ring, I give you my heart.

The Closing
Travis and Megan, together you are stronger then either of you alone...hand in hand, you'll face tomorrow and the world. To begin a new life together does not mean that you must forget the lives that each of you leaves behind; but rather you should remember the differences that brought you here; and keep alive the memories of who you both are...in your pursuit of what you will become together. Let it never be the case that you grow too weary, impatient or fearful, to just sit and talk to one another about your love. May you always remember that just sitting and talking to one another is how you discovered your love in the first place.

Apache Blessing
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be the shelter for each other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be the warmth for the other. Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before. Go now to your dwelling to enter into the days of your life together. And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

The Pronouncement
Travis and Megan, because you have showered our hearts with expressions of your love and promised each other the joy of all your days by pledging your vows and exchanging rings, it gives me great honor and pleasure to now pronounce you Husband and Wife.

Travis, you may now kiss your bride!

Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in greeting Mr. & Mrs. Travis & Megan H*****.

The Details...

October 13th was absolutely the best day of my life thus far. To be surrounded by so many family and friends as Travis and I were finally married... well it was just amazing!! Honestly, our day couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was beautiful, the flowers were gorgeous, and all of our vendors came through for us with flying colors.

My girls and I met around 9:30 am to eat some breakfast and enjoy some mimosas. The hair lady came at 10, then my Mary Kay lady came around 12 to do my makeup. Flowers arrived next, and my photographer came soon after... at which point she got some pictures of my girls helping me get dressed. When we were all ready we headed to our "hideout room" to wait for everything to be set. When everyone was in place we were lead to the door that we would walk out of. Up until that point none of it had felt real... like we were just playing dress up, but at that point, when my dad gave me his arm... it started to hit me. I was still totally calm though... and couldn't get the smile off my face.

Our ceremony was all that I hoped for (I'll post it in another post), and while I kept it together so much better then I thought I would, I did cry when Travis read his personal vows to me. I couldn't believe it when it was over and we were announced. We walked down the aisle and led our bridal party back to the "hideout room" where we toasted, hugged, kissed, and cheered.

After that it was back outside for pictures. After family shots, the bridal party headed down the road to a beautiful little park where our photographer went crazy. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see the results. Travis and I got some shots of just the two of us after that, and then it was on to the party.

Everything was amazing... we were introduced and went right into our first dance to Queen's "You're My Best Friend"... then it was the father/daughter dance (my dad and I, both saps, cried) to "Tea For the Tillerman" by Cat Stevens... and the mother/son dance to "A Song for my Son". We sat down after that and got two fabulous toasts from my Maid of Honor and his Best Man. Then we started the rounds. Just talking to everyone at the party seemed to take forever... but neither of us was especially hungry, so we took care of a lot of it while people were eatting their soup and salad. After we made our rounds and ate some of our delish entrees, we headed out onto the dance floor with the rest of our guests. Around 9ish we cut the cake and did the bouquet and garter tosses. Then it was one last hour of dancing before the night was over!! I could not believe that it had gone so fast and actually checked my watch to be sure!

At that point Travis and I said goodbye to people heading out, before heading upstairs to our room which my wonderful bridesmaids had decorated with candles, roses, and a chilled bottle of champagne. A basket sent up by another wedding guest held chocolates, more champagne, beautiful champagne glasses, and potporrui that made the whole room smell beautiful. We enjoyed a bottle of bubbly together before collapsing into bed completely exhausted.

The next day we got up, packed our wedding day stuff away, helped load everything into the cars, ate some breakfast with family, and then headed to our friends' (Ro & Pat) house where we dropped off our car before they drove us to the airport... and we were on our way to California!

(The Honeymoon)
We spent six wonderful days in American Canyon, CA.... which is between Sonoma and Napa Valley, and only 40 minutes from San Francisco. It was a wonderful trip!! We arrived on Saturday night, and settled into our hotel. We had grabbed some brouchures and started looking at what we wanted to do. Sunday we picked our first winery, Rutherford Hill, and went on a tasting and tour. It was beautiful and the wine was delicious. I discovered a new love... Port! Mmm.

Since we had time to kill between when we finished our tasting and when we started our tour, we asked some of the locals what they suggested and they sent us to a wonderful store that we never would have found on our own. Olive oils, mustards, dressings, balsamic vinegars... and you got to taste everything!

Monday we went on a limo tour, and were taken to 5 wineries. First was Andretti Winery (yup, that Andretti), then Cosentino Winery, and then to V.Sattui (http://www.vsattui.com/). V.Sattui was one of our favorites... they purposely timed it over lunch so that we could take advantage of their store with meats, breads, and dozens of types of cheese! It was amazing, and after a great lunch and tasting, we ended up buying 4 bottles of wine there and a Port! In the afternoon we continued on to Merryvale (with their beautiful cask room) and the Miner Family Winery. It was an amazing day.

Tuesday we took it easy. We drove around downtown Napa a bit, and to kill time before heading to our sushi dinner, we headed to two wineries: Renold's Family and Luna.

Wednesday we started off early and headed into San Francisco! What a great city! We drove across the bridge, visited Alcatraz, walked along the water front and checked out Pier 39. Travis' uncle then met up with us to lead us up some (humongous) stairs and show us Telegraph Hill, and gave us great views of Russian Hill and the waterfront before taking us to the Mission for dinner at a cute Italian place.

Thursday was our last day to tour around, so we headed to Sonoma, which we hadn't really checked out. It is a cute town, and we got to look at the historic sites. We then did a tasting at the Quastle Winery tasting room... where we sampled about 15 wines!! We also got 4 bottles of wine there, and I got a gorgeous pair of earrings by a local artist. Next we checked out some shops and ate a leasurely meal at the Sunflower Cafe, before heading to the hotel.

Friday we got up early, ate breakfast and packed the last of our stuff. It was time to head to the airport. It was quite the adventure getting home (plane pushed up, then delayed making us rush to our connection, which was then delayed!)... but we, along with our 7 bottles of wine (we bought more then 8, but only 7 made it through the week!), made it in one piece. It was an amazing time, and I recommend it to anyone!

Good to be Home!

Everything was so wonderful... more details to follow when we are not about to run out the door (dinner with, and picking up our car from, Ro & Pat). The honeymoon was so much fun... but it is always good to get home.

Here are some teaser pics:

make it end!

I'm writing right now because it is my last day at work and i've already been here for about 37 hours and it Just. Won't. End.

Honestly, make it stop.

I did get my nails done. And I was totally productive up until an hour ago. But then I actually finished all I needed to finish... and well. Now I'm just ready to go.

I think this really will be my last pre-wedding post. I have some errands to run tomorrow, and thursday will be busy with family and friends and the rehearsal stuff. So I suppose this is a good bye... don't forget me... I'll be back on the 23rd... Hopefully with pictures!

Speaking of pictures... I will leave you with some!
K-Trout, Babs, and I being silly:
And looking hot...

Are we not sexy mamas?! :-) Sorry, just had to share.

Okay, now I'm out. Miss me. I will return.

Ps. Somethings you might enjoy while I'm gone:

Cute
Funny
Funny 2
Deep
(or something...)
Sad but Sweet
Sweet/Funny/Happy (all at the same time)
Sweet/Funny/Happy 2

And that killed my time, finding you all those great things to read/look at. Home I go! :-)

10.09.2006

warning: toe cleavage ahead!!

This past weekend was real good...

Saturday was pretty lazy during the day. Honestly, I don't know where most of the day went!! We hit up a diner for breakfast... but the rest of the day we lazed about. Travis had his bachelor party that night. He had a great time... I was so glad that he got that last night out with his boys.
And we got some great news from one of those boys, that he is going to be a daddy!! I think I'm allowed to say, but just in case, no names yet. But a big congrates to the daddy and mommy to be! They are due in April and I can't wait to see them later this week and see if she is starting to show yet.

Sunday I headed to Jersey for Espo's babyshower! She is so cute with her big belly... especially considering how small the rest of her is.

Here she is with her mom and her cake!

Espo and I.

The shower was great, and definitely worth the trip. A good thing considering that while the trip there was two hours, the trip home took over three. Apparently my directions there didn't really translate all that well coming home. Urgh. But after a scenic swing through Delaware, I was back on track and home before too much longer.

Today was busy... trying to get done all the final things that need to be done before the end of the day tomorrow (Tuesday). I have plenty to keep me busy, which is nice because after that day flies... I'm done with work until post Honeymoon!
I did take the time to get my toes beautified today:

My super cute (and bridal) toes.

What do you think? I'm not normally a big fan of feet... but I think my toes are pretty cute. Tomorrow the nails. :-) Hey, I'm only getting married once.

Well, I'm not sure how much more I will post before friday... I'll try to get one in on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, but I guess we'll just have to play it by ear. Wish me luck!

10.06.2006

haha, because you love me...

Last night we treated ourselves to sushi... all you can eat sushi at the Habachi... but GOOD all you can eat sushi, which is hard to find. Yum.

We ate so much, we both kind of felt "blurghy". But then I took a big poop and felt so much better. HA! I know you wanted to hear that.

Today is very chilly, but I'm actually very happy about that. Not so much about the rain... but the cool autumn chill... very nice. Plus it should help the trees to turn... "Turn Baby Turn!" (or something like that).

Said goodbye to three people yesterday, who won't be in the office again until after Tuesday... which means, the next time I see them I will be married. Wow. One week to go. I'm getting damn excited... and I'm so much calmer then I thought I would be. Hopefully I'm not saving up the nerves for the day off... no one wants a puking bride.

I'm just all about the pleasant pictures today, huh.

Here is a pretty picture though:
My new boots, which I am rocking today... I love them, they make me feel like a snowbunny. :-) And they just so happen to be thee most comfortable boots in creation!

Work is crazy, like always, but I actually got a ton done yesterday... why I didn't make it here. But I need to get back to it.

Oh, and this is for Jen... who's baby shower I will be attending:
pregnancy calendar
It's a humorous baby ticker, so enjoy.

Have a great weekend!

10.03.2006

there was no joy in mudville

Damn damn busy. Just had a meeting with boss and two coworkers where we all came away stumbling under the load. I love that it is all, "hey here's what we need by tomorrow." Urgh.

At least tonight will be fun with picking up the favors, and spending time with my soon-to-be Dear Husband. :-)

And all is well because the Eagles kicked some butt last night (did you see it?) after a completely boring and snooze-worthy first half. Did I mention that I watched the first half, then headed upstairs to check my email, only to have Travis (who came home from work at half-time) yelling "they scored again" every ten minutes. Not that I am complaining about the scoring! Just wishing some of it could have occured when I was watching!! Lol, go figure.

Okay, back to work. Only another week and a day to get through, then I am out for a week and a half. Woot!

10.01.2006

weekend changes...

The Before...

The After...

Plus a little primping by Babs and K-Trout...

This girl feels pretty special. :-)

I also sorted and packed up pretty much everything that we'll need to take to the hotel for the wedding and rehearsal. And talked to the DJ.

A pretty successful weekend I would say. It was just what I needed, and I'm feeling pretty good.
