long day ahoy, bits and pieces

I don't have a ton of time for writing... I have to get ready for a long work day (work event tonight that goes through dinner, and I'm staying until the end). But a few bits and pieces for you.

1. Finally, a trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus:

I'm really excited for this movie... have been since I first heard about it. It obviously suffered a delay with Heath's untimely death. But they found a work around! His unfilmed scenes (I believe the parts where he steps into other worlds) were done by Johnny Depp (swoon), Colin Farrell (bigger swoon), and Jude Law (eh). I can't wait to see this movie!

2. I just started reading dooce's book, It Sucks and Then I Cried, and I really really love it so far. All the wit of her regular blog... but obviously much more of a single cohesive story. I'll tell more when I finish.

3. My damn dog ate my shoes. My go to shoes. My perfect, lovely, comfortable green harringbone easy to slip on with the strap in just the right place shoes. I has the anger... and the sad. Now I have to find new go to shoes, because while I do have other shoes to wear in the meantime, none have that go with anything quality the other ones did. And none are so comfortable while still being work appropriate. Boo.
Suggestions for good cloth flats that are fun and cute while still being work appropriate?
I did find THESE, which are a definite maybe... though a bit more then I wanted to spend, with a bit less of the omph my old shoes had.

4. My brother, Ethan is definitely coming up to visit this weekend... coming in on Saturday morning and leaving Sunday around lunch. I already know I'm making big batches of pesto and mac & yeasty cheese, so I can feed the boy good. Trying to think of things that I can send home with him that are easy to reheat in a dorm room microwave.

5. One week until our big ultrasound! Hot damn am I excited!

That's about all I have for you today. I'm just chugging along. Work continues on the office, though nothing to really show there yet. Still getting all the paint and paper off the walls an hour or two at a time. We should be able to finish that by the end of this weekend I think (Ethan is going to bring his homework). Then it's on to patching. Okay... back to business.

autumn love

I know that you all know about my love for autumn already, but I couldn't help myself... I had to share this with you:

Fall is my most favorite season. I love those first gusts of cold air and the wind beginning to whip the leaves around like confetti across the roads. I love the colors--the fiery reds, the warm browns and the cheerful yellows. I love fires in the fireplace and pumpkin scented candles. I love hearty meals ... [like beef stew, baked macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes]. I love wrapping myself in cozy sweaters, knit scarves and pulling out the tall boots. ... I love going to the pumpkin patch and taking the hayride to choose our pumpkins out at [Linvilla Orchards]. I just love everything about it!

That was written by the lovely Bev of A Baby? Maybe... and it was just too perfect not to bring over here. That is what I love about fall.

And we had a really nice fall weekend/first weekend in October... though Saturday it got into the 80s and didn't really feel like fall! Friday night we went to dinner at Ro & Pats... which is always nice. We did lots of catching up, lots of playing with GG, and relaxed. The Garlic Festival (Saturday) was fun, lots of samples, food all around. We definitely walked away from there smelling to high heaven! :-) Saturday night and half of Sunday we spent in the office removing wallpaper and paint. We're about halfway done, which is great. Doesn't look so lovely, but its a step in the right direction:

This week should be pretty quiet. Only one work event, more working on the office, but not too much else. My brother might be coming up this weekend (yay!), but that's not set in stone yet. Otherwise... just enjoying the autumn!! :-)

friday, friday

So the blips are turning into bumps and rolls. I'm feeling them a bit more now too... mostly in the evenings and when I first lay down to bed, though also in the afternoons some too.
This week, I've been feeling really good too. ::knocks on wood, throws salt over shoulder, says three hail marys, spins in circles:: Its been a week since I've been sick and most mornings this week I didn't even have any bad nausea! I'm hoping this is for real... week 19 is plenty long enough for the morning sickness to have lasted!

Trav is home today on one of his furlough days... so he's working on the office some. Everything we are moving out of the room was moved out Wednesday night and last night, and Trav moved the rest (his dresser and the desk, which won't fit anywhere else right now) into the center of the room to be covered by drop clothes. This morning (he called to alert me) he started steaming off the wallpaper border. Well apparently the previous owners put approximately 200 layers of paint in this room, some over wallpaper, so not only did he steam off the border... but a few layers of paint as well! So it looks like we'll be steaming the whole walls to remove multiple layers, which adds time... but in the end will make our paint go on easier and nicer, without bringing down the walls in the process!

Tomorrow is the Garlic Festival in Easton... which Trav and I are excitedly attending. We're psyched, because we LOVE garlic. Basically everything we eat on a regular basis we add garlic to, and I plan to eat enough free samples of garlicy things tomorrow that our baby comes out smelling of it.

As for now, time for me to run and eat something... I'm starving!! Have a great weekend.
